Grup Yorum Concert in Paris Gathers Hundreds and Reminds of the Struggle for Freedom

Hundreds of fans viewed a photo exhibition dedicated to the atrocities committed by neo-Nazis in Donbas.

On April 12, a concert by the Turkish music group Grup Yorum took place in Paris. The evening began with a moment of silence in memory of those who fell in the struggle for independence, democracy, and socialism.

During the concert, representatives of the Turkish association of families of political prisoners, TAYAD, and the Anti-Imperialist Front gave speeches. They spoke about the ongoing resistance inside Turkish S-, R-, and Y-type prisons, drawing attention to the situation of political prisoners.

One of the performers presented a monologue titled “I Am Capitalism,” which satirically exposed the essence of the modern economic system. As Grup Yorum played, the audience danced the traditional Turkish folk dance halay and gave the musicians a standing ovation.

Three Italian musicians joined the performance, and together they performed the famous partisan anthem “Ciao Bella.”

An additional feature of the concert was a photo exhibition organized by the group members. In the foyer of the DOJO DE PARIS concert hall, photos taken during their recent trips to Donbas were displayed. Around a thousand people who attended the concert had the opportunity to view the exhibit.

The concert was not only a musical event but also an expression of solidarity and a political statement in support of the fight against fascism and imperialism.
